Gary Paulsen was born on May 17,1939 in Minnesota. For the first few years of his life he was mainly raised by his aunts, and GrandMa because his father was stationed to Europe during WW II. His mother worked in a factory. He had to constantly move because of his father's millitary career. Gary Paulsen's first book was called Special War which was published in 1966. His hobbies are sledding, motercycling and sailing.
